-UT2004 Assault Mapping Tutorial




This tutorial outlines the creation of the heavily scripted Assault maps. It goes over several basic objective types, spawn control, and some effecs useful in making the objectives seem real. As with other map tutorials, the map is playable and simple, but can be opened in UnrealEd and has explaninations of most of the important aspects of the map, and an outline of what some variables do.

Using this technique, I have made a few tutorials, and I find this type to be more helpful, encouraging playing around with paramaters instead of following instructions, and providing a decent number of ideas to build upon.

As assault is a very complicated and in-depth map type, this tutorial merely scratches the surface of possibility. It covers little to nothing about defender control (AI) and vehicles, but contains enough information to make a functional Assault map and should be enough info to get you experimenting with bigger and better maps.
